Side Effects and Complications
- Infection: If aseptic techniques are not strictly followed during surgery or postoperative care is inadequate, infection may occur. Symptoms include breast redness, swelling, pain, and fever. In severe cases, the implant may need to be removed for anti-infective treatment.
- Fat liquefaction: After autologous fat transfer, some fat cells may undergo liquefaction due to poor blood supply, forming hard nodules or cysts.
- Capsular contracture: This is one of the common complications of implant breast augmentation, characterized by breast hardening and deformation, often accompanied by pain. Severe capsular contracture requires surgical intervention.
- Bleeding and hematoma: Incomplete hemostasis during surgery may lead to postoperative bleeding and hematoma, affecting surgical outcomes and recovery time.
Side Effects
In addition to the previously mentioned side effects such as infection, fat liquefaction, and capsular contracture, abnormal skin sensation may also occur. During surgery, nerves surrounding the breast may be damaged, leading to reduced sensation, numbness, or tingling in the breast skin. While some patients experience gradual improvement over time, a small number may suffer from persistent symptoms.
